Blyth's free shows are at 6pm and 7.30pm on 31 October and Morpeth RFC's bonfire is Sunday 1 November. Hexham (free) and Alnwick (£6) go on 7 November.
Four Northumberland displays are confirmed for this autumn, and none of them is on bonfire night. Blyth fires on Saturday 31 October, five days early, and Morpeth Rugby Club’s bonfire night is Sunday 1 November. Hexham and Alnwick both go on Saturday 7 November, two days late. The fifth itself, Thursday 5 November, has nothing on it.
Updated 3 October: Morpeth RFC has listed its bonfire night for Sunday 1 November, 5pm to 10pm, and Alnwick Round Table has confirmed its venue, gate times and prices.
Everything below was checked against the organiser’s own page this week. Where a date is not confirmed we say so rather than repeat last year’s.

Blyth: Saturday 31 October, free, two displays
Updated 25 September: Blyth Town Council has now published the full plan on its fireworks event page. This year there are two displays at Mermaid Car Park, NE24 3PL:
- a low-noise display at 6pm, aimed at young children, people with sensory difficulties and anyone who prefers a quieter show;
- the full display at 7.30pm.
The event runs 4pm to 9pm, with a funfair, food stalls and a Halloween disco from 4pm. Everything is free. The council says the two shows together last as long as previous years’ single display. There is no parking at Mermaid Car Park, which closes fully from 4pm; the council asks people not to park on verges, junctions or residential streets, says civil enforcement officers will patrol, and suggests public transport, with details of extra services to follow.
This replaces the times we reported earlier from Visit Northumberland’s listing (4pm to 8pm, fireworks at 7pm), which the council’s page supersedes. The fireworks close a free Halloween week in the Market Pavilion, 27 to 31 October, with a parade round the Marketplace at 3pm on Friday 30 October.
Blyth also has Remembrance services across the town through the following week: Submariners on Sunday 1 November, Cowpen Memorial on Friday 6 November, Newsham Memorial on Saturday 7 November and Ridley Park Cenotaph on Sunday 8 November, all listed by the town council.
Hexham: Saturday 7 November, 7pm, The Sele
Hexham Town Council’s event page gives the date as 07/11/2026, the time as 7pm and the place as The Sele, the park in the middle of the town.
The council runs the display itself, “supported by dedicated local groups including the Hexham Rotary Club and Tynedale Lions”. Its page is explicit about the money: the event is free to attend, “volunteers have collection buckets”, and every donation “not only makes sure we can put on the event next year, but also benefits local charities and community projects”. This display used to be run by Hexham Round Table, so search results and old listings that still name the Round Table are out of date; the town council’s page is the one to trust.
The council has not yet published a gates time or a programme, only the 7pm display time.
Hexham also runs Spook Night on Saturday 31 October, 2pm to 9pm on Beaumont Street, listed by the same council as an annual event with rides and competitions, and the Remembrance Day parade and service on Sunday 8 November: services in the town’s churches from 9.30am, a parade from the Moot Hall at 10.15am and the service at the war memorial on Beaumont Street at 10.30am.
Morpeth: Sunday 1 November, 5pm to 10pm
Morpeth’s display is back on. Morpeth RFC’s events calendar, which a month ago had no bonfire night in it, now lists Bonfire Night on Sunday 1 November 2026, 5pm to 10pm, and the event entry gives the place as Grange House Field, Mitford Road, Morpeth NE61 1RJ, the club’s ground.
That is a Sunday, the day after Blyth, so it does not clash with any other display in the county. The club has not published an admission price or a time for lighting the bonfire. For reference only, its past listings gave gates at 5pm and the bonfire lit at 6pm, and in 2023 admission of £7 for adults and £5 for under-12s, cash only. Bring cash in case.
Morpeth Town Council’s November calendar carries the Annual Hollon Tea on 5 November and the Remembrance Day service at 11am on Sunday 8 November at the Cenotaph in Deuchar Park.
Alnwick: Saturday 7 November, gates 6pm, first firework 7.30pm
The organiser, Alnwick and District Round Table, has now settled the venue: Alnwick Town Juniors Football Club (Greensfield Sports Bar), NE66 1BG, which it calls “a short stones throw away from our old venue”. The details on its page:
- Saturday 7 November, gates open 6pm, first launch 7.30pm.
- On the gate: £6 adults, £4 children aged 4 to 16, under-4s free, cash and card taken.
- Fast track tickets bought in advance get their own queue, and are 10% off until 13 October.
- Food trucks, the football club bar open before, during and after, and a funfair at the end of the car park.
The display is entirely self-funded. The Round Table says it pays for each year’s fireworks from the previous year’s gate money, and asks anyone who would rather watch from a distance to donate through its page instead.
The towns with no display at all
We checked the councils that publish their own events, and found nothing for bonfire night:
- Ashington Town Council: its upcoming events list is empty.
- Cramlington Town Council: its events page lists only a craft club, in October and November.
- Newbiggin-by-the-Sea Town Council: its calendar runs to February 2027 and contains only the midweek noon walk. Visit Northumberland’s bonfire round-up names a Newbiggin display on Saturday 7 November, but the listing it links to has been removed, so we cannot confirm it.
- Heddon-on-the-Wall: the same round-up still links a ticket page for “Fireworks on the Wall”, which turns out to be dated Sunday 5 November 2023 and marked “This event has ended”.
If your town’s display is confirmed and missing from this page, tell us and we will add it with the source.
Road closures: none published yet
Northumberland County Council files its temporary traffic orders on the Public Notice Portal. As at 5 September, none of the live notices covering the Blyth, Hexham or Alnwick postcodes mentions fireworks, a bonfire or a display. Event closures are normally advertised a few weeks out, so this page will be updated when they appear, and any that affect a main route will show up on our Northumberland roadworks and travel page.
Parking: free, but that is not the same as easy
Almost every council car park in a Northumberland town centre is free, which takes the usual bonfire-night worry off the table. The catch is the £1 parking disc, compulsory in the short-stay bays in Alnwick, Berwick, Hexham, Morpeth and Ponteland, with a £50 penalty for not displaying one.
- Blyth: Mermaid Car Park is closed from 4pm on 31 October, because the display is on it. The town council asks visitors to use public transport. Blyth Sports Centre, Freehold Street, High Street, Keel Row and King Street are all free, all day, with no disc.
- Hexham: Alemouth Road, Tyne Green, Tyne Mills and the Gilesgate long stay are all free, all day and disc-free, which matters because Market Place is one hour with a disc. The Sele is a short walk from the town centre.
- Alnwick: the long-stay car parks are free and disc-free; the Bondgate and Market Street bays are two hours or less and need a disc.
Full details, the disc rules and where to buy one are on our Northumberland parking page.
